Home Tour

Welcome to our home!

Our house isn't exactly "home tour ready" however, it is with much confidence that I can say it'll be at least another year before our house is officially ready so why not tour the progress.

This picture is of one of the streets in our neighborhood.
We fell in love with the tall, old growth and the varying styles and ages of each and every house. We really wanted a neighborhood where children still played in the streets, neighbors chatted while watering their lawns, and the tree lined streets changed colors with the seasons.

- The Exterior -

When we first laid eyes on our home, we didn't love it.
It was red and boxy with a weird sunken middle section. I didn't get it.
I wanted a colonial but good luck finding one of those in BC (let alone for under $800,000).
We started by changing the doors. Then a year later, we added a fresh coat of paint.
It wasn't love at first sight, but with a little lipstick, this old timer grew on me.

-The Entry-

This entry was our biggest obstacle.
Our stairs were dangerous and to fix them, we would have had to push out our front entry. A $10,000 expense we did not budget for and a messy reno, we did not want to have to endure.
Stay tuned for an upcoming post on how we were able to fix our entry/stairs for $2.00.

-Dining Room-

Eat Well & Travel Often
Our dining room is a place where we gather with family on special occasions.
It is where I scrapbook while my husband studies or plays video games and Baloo watches our neighbors and growls at the passing cats and birds.
Above our salvaged buffet, we showcase our memories from all our travels and on the opposite wall, we have our "Wall of Mirrors", our version of our little Palace of Versailles.

 -Hallway-

This hallway was dark and so very red when we first moved in.
Plus, the baseboards were popping off left right and center.
Seeing as this is the only hallway in our house, we had to go all out.
From the baseboards to the ceilings, we DIY'd the crap out of this tiny space!
